July 7th: Skeleton Crew
by Maciej Żywioł - July 7th, 2010.Filed under: Meeting Aftermath, News.
Everything was against us today - person after person appointed with role for the meeting of July 7th had some unexpected reasons not to come. We went really close to cancel the meeting, but finally decided to have it with the skeleton crew.
And it turned out to be a good decision, because it was really good - aside from the seven people we knew we will have, we had our favourite Grammarian Joasia join us, and we welcomed a new guest - Tomasz, who actually nailed the Table Topic session on his first meeting with the Club. Congratulations!
The Table Topic itself went pretty good - half of the speakers had the tasks of presenting strangest awards (ex. for the Best TV Remote Operator or Best Nuclear Power Plant Designer) to the other half, whose task was to accept the award and give a thank you speech.
In her third project (”Get to the Point”) Ania shared with us some knowledge about Feng Shui and how we should organize our houses or flats to maximize positive energy in our lives. Your truly - today’s Toastmaster - learned that way that in his house his Glory is in the toilet…
To summarize - today’s meeting show that quality is more important than quantity, but short research of people’s schedules for the upcoming two summer months show that we may experience similar staffing problems for some time now - at least until September.
This is why we decided that during Summer months we will have meetings every two weeks instead of weekly.
The next meeting, therefore, is planned for Wednesday, July 21st. The hour and place as usual.
